A lot of times when I see before and after pictures on here and r/unfuckyourhabitat I can't help but notice that the afters always seem empty, undecorated, or just lacking in some way. Do you think there's some kind of underlying, maybe primal psychology where we need to have some kind of visual stimuli or maybe even physical obstacles in the home? Maybe for warding off predators by having things block sleeping areas or such? I feel like there has to be some obscure-ish psychology to why it happens and happens to so many besides the obvious (hoarding, depression, ADHD, etc.) but while I can come up with theories all day long I want to know what you all think about it. Is there a reason why our homes become cluttered this way that relates to something deep within us? Like a house being too empty setting something off in the brain that we don't quite understand?
Hi all,
I have a question regarding building a garage in the back. The home is a duplex and as you can see in the picture, the left one is what I put an offer on. The right one is someone else's (neighbours haven't moved in yet but have purchased it from the builders).
The question I have is that the garage gravel pads for both the units of the duplex has no spacing. See the images - two gravel pad and both separated by the wooden section. The middle is the plot line of the houses. Please see the drawing.
The builder has mentioned that I cannot build a garage if my neighbour in the other half of the duplex does not agree to it. I need their consent and they need mine.
I haven't purchased the property yet, I love it but this has put me off. I wanted to understand if this is correct. My worry is if I purchase the property and the neighbour does not decide to build the garage. Then I am left without a garage.
Please let me know if there is any way to build a garage and if it's possible to build without having to deal with the neighbour.
I am just going to collect some of your thoughts about the different bpo companies around metro manila. What are your experiences to these companies? and may you please share your pros and cons sa mga companies na to? Thank you!
i have a job interview there tomorrow but find conflicted answers on google on exactly what it is.
Also what should i wear to the interview given its apparent status?

How many miles is to high for you to consider a purchase of a used bike?
I have the opportunity to trade my 02 600 f4i with 27k miles for a 2003 954rr with 40k miles, needs and ignition which I have a spare, and maintenance unknown. Would you guys even think twice about this?? Personally the fireblade is my dream bike and is what I really wanted when I go into the 600. The 600 was just a good introduction to these bikes as it was a project I got up and running. Pic of my bike (grey) and offer bike.
I was to my brother about weapons we don't use in destiny either because of the lore or its description and I was curious if anyone else does that (personally I don't use or even touch thorn because of its quote at the end being "and know you are an enemy of hope" because it felt wrong to me, like using it would taint me or something)

Finally working my backlog from last year. I ended up really enjoying this kit a lot more than I thought I would. Next step will be painting / airbrushing and decals.
Hello everyone, some friends and I are being evicted from a server and would like to take the thousands of tupperbox RP messages we sent with us. Is there a bot that can be used to transcribe every message from one place to another?
Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia, and Nathan Blecharczyk didn’t just create a product—they created a movement. Airbnb’s story is one of relentless innovation and grit, turning a wild idea into a hospitality juggernaut. Here’s how they did it.
**Think Creatively ->**When traditional funding failed, the founders sold cereal. Yes, cereal.
In 2007, Chesky and Gebbia couldn’t afford their San Francisco rent. With a design conference in town and hotels fully booked, they saw an opportunity. They inflated three air mattresses, put up a simple website called “AirBed & Breakfast,” and hosted their first guests. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing.
By 2008, the company was drowning in debt. Chesky sat on the floor of their apartment, surrounded by unpaid bills. “We were living off credit cards,” he later admitted. Investors dismissed their idea as ridiculous, one even calling it “the worst idea” they’d ever heard. Desperate, the team brainstormed late into the night and came up with a quirky plan: sell collectible cereal boxes. They designed “Obama O’s” and “Cap’n McCain’s” during the U.S. presidential election, selling 800 boxes and raising $30,000—enough to keep the dream alive.
**Stay User-Focused** \-> Airbnb’s founders didn’t just build a platform; they built trust.
In 2009, the startup joined Y Combinator. There, the team learned a critical lesson: listen to your users. They flew to hosts’ homes, took professional photos to boost listings, and introduced features like guest reviews and secure payments. This hands-on approach transformed a risky idea into a trusted platform.
**Adapt to Challenges** \-> Every crisis is an opportunity in disguise.
Airbnb’s journey wasn’t without setbacks. In 2011, a host’s property was ransacked, putting the company’s reputation on the line. The founders responded with a $1 million host guarantee, doubling down on safety measures. Then came 2020. With travel grinding to a halt during the pandemic, Airbnb pivoted to focus on local travel and long-term stays, emerging stronger than ever.
**The Takeaway**
1. Think Creatively: When cash was tight, they sold cereal to keep going.
2. Stay User-Focused: By addressing users’ needs, they built trust and loyalty.
3. Adapt to Challenges: Airbnb’s resilience turned crises into opportunities.
From air mattresses to a $100 billion empire, Airbnb’s story proves that unconventional ideas, paired with grit and adaptability, can change the world.
PS: Hey all, thanks for reading this far! I love reading about interesting businesses and founders, and decided to try my hand at breaking down learning lessons from some of them. Would love your feedback on how I could have written it better. Thanks in advance! And I apologize mods if such posts are not allowed, will remove if necessary!
